Discover Unseen Cutting-Edge Technologies at This Wine Museum! - Savalan Wine Museum
Located in Qəbələ within the “SAVALAN - ASPI Winery” premises, the Savalan Wine Museum is a modern cultural hub that brings Azerbaijan’s ancient winemaking traditions and contemporary innovations to life through interactive and immersive exhibits. The museum’s design leverages advanced technologies, enabling visitors to explore the history and culture of wine in an entertaining and educational manner. Interactive displays, touchscreens, and augmented reality (AR) applications vividly present all stages of wine production—from vineyard cultivation to the crafting of glass bottles, oak barrels, and corks. Sound effects and immersive audio recordings create an authentic atmosphere of Azerbaijan’s winemaking regions, transporting visitors on a historical journey.
The museum’s digital art elements form a perfect harmony with traditional exhibits. Replicas of ancient vessels and artifacts unearthed from archaeological excavations in Qəbələ and surrounding areas, as well as rare wine labels from the early 20th century, can be explored interactively via QR codes and AR applications. Visitors gain insights into the historical and cultural significance of these exhibits through 3D animations and virtual presentations, making the learning process more engaging and memorable. Virtual reality (VR) tours allow exploration of the Savalan Valley’s vineyards and the winemaking traditions of ancient Caucasian Albania, immersing visitors as if traveling back in time.
The pinnacle of the museum’s immersive experiences is the world’s largest wooden wine barrel, recognized by the Guinness Book of Records, with a capacity of 66,579 liters. Measuring 4.9 meters in length and 4.75 meters in diameter, this colossal barrel is housed in a dedicated wine cellar, and its history is presented through interactive screens, projections, and virtual tours. As visitors learn about the barrel’s production process and its significance in winemaking, digital art elements enhance the experience, making it visually striking.
The tasting hall completes the museum’s interactive experience. Here, the enchanting flavors of “SAVALAN” wines are explored under the guidance of sommeliers. Interactive tasks—such as analyzing wine aromas, evaluating taste profiles, or experimenting with food pairings—allow visitors to delve deeper into wine culture. Digital displays provide additional information about each wine’s production process and grape varieties’ characteristics. Complemented by local delicacies and snacks, these sessions create a harmonious blend of taste and technology.
