The new BSU Geology Museum, supported by bp, displays Azerbaijan’s geological heritage and resources using advanced interactive technologies.
Designed for students and researchers of the Geology and Geophysics faculties, this innovative space marks a new chapter in education. The museum features eight thematic sections, each highlighting Azerbaijan’s geological wealth from unique perspectives:
- Azerbaijan’s geological history: A digital journey through the country’s geological past.
- Regional geological features: The unique structure of different areas.
- Mineral resources: An exhibition of rare minerals.
- Fossils and paleontology: Traces of ancient life.
- Unusual geological formations: Nature’s remarkable monuments.
- Heydar Aliyev and geological development: State support for geology.
- Economic role of geological resources: The economic value of natural wealth.
- Geological innovations: Modern scientific discoveries.
Each section is equipped with modern interactive touchscreens and multimedia displays that engage visitors. Through these screens, students can explore the distribution of Azerbaijan’s mineral resources, study the geological structure of the Caspian Sea in 3D, and discover the formation of oil fields dynamically. The touchscreens, with their intuitive interface, simplify the learning process while offering an engaging experience. Multimedia materials enrich scientific information with visual and audio elements, making learning more captivating.
The museum also includes a dedicated zone for students to conduct group research and discussions, fostering interactive and collaborative learning. Additionally, it offers valuable scientific resources for researchers, making it an invaluable asset.
At the opening ceremony, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev emphasized the museum’s role in education and science. bp’s Regional President Gary Jones praised the project as an example of commitment to education in Azerbaijan. The museum is expected to support the academic and scientific activities of approximately 600 students. The BSU Geology Museum is not only for students but also an inspiring destination for anyone eager to uncover the secrets of Azerbaijan’s natural treasures.
